What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Evening All. Just back from 4 hours driving over the day. @SaskiaKC that deal sounds too good to be true and just not fair. Things being not fair gets to me more than anything else. Good news about the KC’s new favourite dinner! Oscar was so pleased to see me and I took him round the block for a walk very slowly and he ate his dinner and then snoozed on the sofa. He is defo not ready yet which makes me (and his mum) happy.

@gennepher you deal with a lot never mind Diabetes...I hope you like Montezuma Orange & Cocoa nib choc...its quite fab.

There is some chocolate orange candy in the British section of the International section of my grocery store. Next time I go there I will check to see if it is Montezuma. I had never heard of that brand before today.
A friend gave me a chocolate orange for my birthday one year -- delicious! It actually looked like an orange -- in chocolate.
 
Oh yes I absolutely (used to) love oranges and loved Terrys Chocolate oranges too esp the dark choc one. So this choc is the closest I can manage now. I miss clementines especially at Christmas. What varieties of oranges doyouhave accessto Saskia?

Mostly just navel oranges. We used to be able to find Jaffa oranges, which I loved, but the grocery stores here now carry mostly fruits that don't have seeds. It's kinda scary because how does a fruit regenerate itself without seeds? Frankenfruit?

I have been thinking of you when reading a book I just checked out from the library on my Nook -- The Little Beach Street Bakery, by Jenny Colgan. It's set in Cornwall, on a fictional island like St Michael's Mount, and the main character is a baker who is in effect a PuffinMum.
 
Thatis more astute than you will believe. I absolutely love Cornwall and since I discovered it (in Enid Blyton’s childrens books aged 8) and then I moved to the UK and when I first visited Cornwall it stole my heart and tbere hasnt been a year since then we havent gone back. Btw I have read that book.
 

It’s lovely, but as the name suggests, very dark and bitter. I really like dark chocolate nowadays but a year ago, before I started eating low carb I only liked sweet milk chocolate.
Interesting about the thyroid - do you have thyroid problems?
 
Re #chocolategate. I have had to be honest and admit 100% leaves a lot to be desired. Loads of the huge (2.5kgs) bag of callebaut to deal with - will try to turn into chocolate orange by melting and adding orange lc/nc flavouring. Favourite(s) at the moment are Green and Blacks velvet edition with raspberry and hazelnut being best for taste and 6.3 gms carb per row - 2 squares. Mint one is 5.9 and tastes just like after 8
 

My favorite book set in Cornwall is Frenchman's Creek. I also love Over Hill Under Stone, and Greenwitch.
 
I got hooked on Daphne du Maurier books when young reading through my mothers stash of books which also included Jeffery Farnol's The Broad Highway. And then was hooked on Jeffery Farnol books also.

My cousin so many times removed R D Blackmore back in the 1900's set a lot of his books in the west country Lorna Doone being a favorite of mine.

It also was one of the books mum had collected over the years.
 
A very late good evening or an early good morning. I have a query. This past week I have had a shocking week of sleeplessness. Can anyone enlighten me as to how does a lack of sleep and the resulting exhaustion generally affect blood sugar readings? I know it’s a generalisation but I’m just inquisitive. I keep an excel sheet with my big readings and notate external parameters but have never noted hours sleep as a variable. I’ve now added it.
 

I haven't noticed sleep patterns affecting my FBGs. I think my FBG may be affected by what I've eaten the night before, except of course when it isn't.

For awhile, when I stopped LCHF a couple of months ago, it seemed that my FBGs were running higher because I was eating more carbs, but now the FBG numbers are getting lower again.

I don't log anything but FBG numbers. I try to eat as sensibly as I can but these days I am trying to eat more for my LDL cholesterol and blood pressure than for T2 diabetes.

I often wonder how LCHF affects other people's LDL numbers.
 
well its nearly morning...It should be dawn in 40 mins or so.... So I'm testing today much, much earlier and its 4.2 . A great number, albeit a little early...
