Shocking isn't it and they wonder why diabetes is on the rise
That's rotten news. I'm not surprised your not a happy bunny. Think yesterday might have been the hottest day yet in our neck of the woods. I would not have the energy for your walk but hope it clears your head a wee bit.Libre 5.6
Really peeved off yesterday. Phone call from consultant secretary. Hospital bloods just done Monday... The hba1c info was told was wrong. It was just glucose at time. other bloods that were taking appear to be missing. They want me back over in near future to get more bloods done. Monday appointment is now canceled as was to discuss results which they don't have and are blaming transportation to the lab saying that's out with their control nor are they responsible. Missing blood samples appears to be although rare happens fairly frequently imo that isn't acceptable.
Notes also state despite me asking and checking afterwards were not collected at all not happy. Almost 6 months on from diagnosis still no sign of appointment from referral made to try assist to get over irrational fear.
Breakfast then swim for me today followed by hoping to go for a wee hike up the hills hot already so bringing lots of water and packed lunch with me
Yes. The dietary recommendations that have been pushed for the last 20 plus years are more for heart health rather than keeping diabetics healthy. Thankfully things are beginning to change although they wont change much if money remains a prime motivator. My GP surgery is a good'n though and tries to keep up with current trends. Firstly moving away from Eatwell to Mediterranean diet, now they have started to recommend eating a low carb diet and apparently are having some success. Which is really good.6.1 today.
Amazed that so many others still being advised of the supposed benefits of high carb breakfast items. I had the same advice just a year ago " eat plenty of porridge, it's good for diabetics as it is slow release." For some that may be but it shoots my BS up straight away and stays there. I have found just avoiding the high carby foods such as porridge, bread, potatoes, pasta and then experimenting with other lesser known culprits is the only way to get a true picture of what is good or bad for you. Identify for ourselves the "devil" foods and try to stick to the "angel" ones, (never easy.) You cannot rely on generally held dietary beliefs as we are all different and often the advice is outdated.
It was 32 here and set to be the same today ......way too hot for meMorning All 7.4 today which is better but probably due to my tummy flipping in heat. Eating much reduced. If only it could be 24C every day in summer with a few heavy overnight showers for the garden. And my FBG could be 6 …..I can dream.
Take care everyone.
I regularly see my dietitian, 3 or 4 times a year. She is a good dietitian and a great help, but the test meter is the best bet, I live on meter testing for BG!Yes. I remember when I was first diagnosed along with foot and eye nurse appointments, I was booked in to see a dietician. I had to wait a couple of months for the appointment by which time I was eating keto. All she did was preach the Eatwell Plate, as I had been following Eatwell for years to avoid diabetic. I knew that this was was not going to do me much good, The dietician I saw obviously had little experience and just quoted what she had written down on her sheet. Following a script to plan peoples' lives is only good if the plan is a good one. I don't think she had come across anyone who wasn't on meds so was in unknown territory for her and she didn't know what to say other than peach Eatwell. "You must eat carbs your know!" I had done some research so wasn't completely ignorant so I could ignore her advice, but I felt so sorry for the lady who was also waiting her first appointment. She was so scared and overwhelmed, I tried to explain that going low carb would be a good thing for her and mentioned this site, but I know she wasn't listening and chances are would follow exactly what the dietician recommended. What was it they used to say; once diabetic, likely to be on insulin within 5 years,
Yes I was the same binned the eat well plate, queried everything the DN told me to eat and followed low carb since. This forum was my saviour for my diagnosis and sanity!I agree..
Learnt all this 7 or 8 years ago even put the people on the Desmond course ( waste of time for me) right on low carb..
Back on here be cause I lapsed and thought I was invincible !
I mainly follow low carb but......
