What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

4.6 mmol/L on Humpday
morning, drizzling this morning, it will be sunny later in the day. I eat only half a slice of sourdough bread a day and the rest goes to birds and squirrels. Two golden kiwis keep my metabolism in line. No red meat, only salmon and chicken. Always well hydrated, not sure a lot about diabetes, as long as I have low numbers that's all I am concerned about. Have a nice day everyone.

I am struggling with high sugars post postprandial (eating). I have now followed the Dr cycle of insulin before eating, and three times a day. I must of course get healthier, do low carbs meals and lose up-to 40Kgs body weight over the next three years. Your encouraging advice is very appreciated.
 
6.2 today….oh this crazy body. Really watching the diet and I’m usually very good so the constant 6 plus numbers are frustrating. I made some fathead dough bagels and they are my treat, and at 3.5 carbs they are a fine dessert…with butter and cheese. My husband is doing a great job eating up the almond flour crackers….I know not to buy them but sometimes they end up in my cart at Costco. Oh, I did find some grass fed zero carb beef sticks at Costco. They are very good but pricey (as is everything here..)

winner for the insulin jag. which type did they end up giving you? some have differing lengths of time active for. if fast acting eg novarapid peaks (lowers sugars fastest on peak which to me appeared to be between an hour and 2 and half hours) before less active (less of an effect) for upto 4-5 hours after initial injection. best of luck with your new regime. keep eye out for lows during the active time especially towards the end of its peak effect. gl

mine today 5.4 25 minutes after up and about said 4.3 when just woke up, compression low imo.
yesterdays visit to the dr surgery to make an appt at 8:30 was a great idea managed to get an appt in future apparently just to call in at 8:30am lol no chance going to do same next time need one.

blood keytones highish 0.9. been given extra med to try assist for bloods. locum gp seemed to be in a rush pretty much saying thats diabetic issue need to speak to dsn or consultant regards keytones which sit appear to sit fairly high 1.2 - 1.6 a fair bit. other issue which is pretty embarrassing wasn't interested in the slightest, oh that can happen as your diabetic especially if was uncontrolled for years. going to try get another appt in a couple weeks time when locum changes already discussed the embarassing issue with the dsn who said would need go see gp and ask them to refer to a urologist. already know likelyhood is surgical proceedure to fix as back in january in hospistal was briefly brought up.

I’m on lantus , as you probably know it’s a long lasting one according to everything I’ve read. The dose is 6 units as per endo recommendation. Chat gpt , when input all my symptoms and blood numbers in Recomended starting on 8. I’m happy for now starting in a conservative way.

The biggest problem is dealing with the bureaucracy which is called the NHS. - if I hadn’t gone private I’d still have another 10 days to wait to see a GP before being on a wait list to see an endo. Luckily I have the resources to by pass parts of this.
