Good wishes this Sunday to all
Hi Freema
Well done on getting your readings and weight down. Can you offer any advise on how you did it. I would be grateful
Have a lovely day

You are not in fact a man. You are a well oiled diabetic number crunching machine. Another fine result Mr. C
5.8 at 5:10 am, on a Monday morning which I rather like as I do not have to go to work anymore.
6.1 this morning. Surprised it's this low, I got my flu shot this week and have a cold, dealing with side-effects of the shot too, so my sugars are doing excellent all things considered.
When I worked at the mine I was payed double time for Monday day shift so it eased the pain a bit. It's just not fair. Work is ruining my hectic social calendar and smashing whopping great holes in my extended periods of beauty sleep. I wanna retire tomorrow or maybe on Tuesday at a push.
Do you get side effects from your flu jab?

Work is the curse of the drinkingmanperson though.
yes but maybe you will find it hard , I did 6 month of 1000 calories mostly low calories-low fat and fewer carbs which means it was high protein... then I when being morbidly obese did start going for long walks every other day like 5-7 kilometers .. later on, started doing intermittent fasting in the way that I didn´t eat anything from 19 o´clock till 12 o´clock next midday... to get my insuline levels down as much as possible.... luckily I also found this web-site which has helped me a lot have opened my eyes to very low carbs (though still only doing lower carbs) but found out if people are being consistent most can actually get their levels down in the normal area very fast and that only by doing LCHF if they go under 100 grams of carbs a day...
I my case I chosed to do more strategies simultaneously also decided to become fit again, so as soon as I lost weight enough to be able to do fitness I did that and did 3 days a week for many months... burning really a lot of calories... like 2000 calories every time ( INITIALLY 600 calories)... I got tired of this occupying all my energy-filled time.. I have always suffered from depressions and passivity too and very low energy, and when having fine periods found comfort in doing creative things like painting paintings and doing homemade jewelry so it annoyed me to have my whole energy only used for fitness... so now I only go twice a week but mostly stay at fitness for at least 4 hours and more likely 6 hours.with breaks for eating a little food like cottage cheese or nuts and alike...
I still have many days almost without energy the days I don´t do fitness. but now if I am lucky I have one day a week where I can do something creative too which give me great joy...besides all the housework I have bribed my vegetarian daughter to cook evening meals almost every day. so she is informed a lot of what I can eat and cant eat ..Since doing all this fitness I eat more like 2000-3000 calories a day and have a hard time loosing any more, but my strategy is also to build muscle mass to lower my insulin resistance and till now I think I have gained around 5 kg muscles since being initially a total couch potato maybe eating around 3000-3500 calories every day... I believe my gained musclemass has helped me to now be in a situation where I can eat around 200 grams of carbs a day and still have acceptable levels of blood glucose and no high spiking.
in the mornings around 5.7- 6.0 mmol most of the time I DO TAKE METFORMIN TOO 2 X 850 MG EVERY MORNING...
three days ago after eating 400 grams of high sugar strawberry icecream my blood glucose was 5.3 2 hours later don´t know how high it spiked... so my insuline respons seems to be massive.....but that is not healthy and substainable... so this is not what I will do very often.... GOOD LUCK

Yeah it's pretty normal for me, I get a reaction every year - I already had a cold, but I usually get a small fever for 1 or 2 days from the flu shot, some muscle soreness, and the place where I got the shot gets red and swollen. It's usually gone in 3 days or so though.Do you get side effects from your flu jab? I only ask because on the first one I ever had I got a really bad cough and cold. My doctor insisted that it was just coincidental and I must confess I have never had similar stuff on my subsequent flu jabs. I have always wondered about it though.
With you I can't tell what might be real jobs or wishful fantasies!Madam Butterfly that is a rather full CV you have there. For my own part my own roles have included welding and fabrication, being a kissogram in the early 90's, being a bouncer in a nightclub. I have finished up as a works manager in an engineering workshop through the week and a fly fishing instructor for salmon, sea trout, trout and grayling at weekends. I have done some less mundane jobs than these as well. I always wanted to work as a stuntman but alas am afraid of heights and water and fire and driving fast
Oh my! Never had a flu jab.... Hope to never have one!Yeah it's pretty normal for me, I get a reaction every year - I already had a cold, but I usually get a small fever for 1 or 2 days from the flu shot, some muscle soreness, and the place where I got the shot gets red and swollen. You can't get the flu from the jab itself, the virus is inactive, but your body can still respond to it and that gives cold-like symptoms. Basically what this means is that your body is 'killing' the virus and building up immunity, and this process of killing the virus is what creates sick symptoms in people. If you're lucky you don't get them, but I've pretty much accepted that I do every year. The fact my body responds so strongly to inactive viruses is all the reason I need to get them every year. Imagine how horrifically sick I'll get if I get the live viruses? The risk for pneumonia as a side-effect of the flu is too high for me, as is the risk of not recovering from that. I'd rather put up with a few days of feeling ****** than to deal with that.
