What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Your fasting blood glucose levels are where they need to be, anywhere between 4 and 7 is good.

Any guess where my A1c might be if my fasting bg reading are between the 5s and 6s?

It's taken as an average, if it's 5.5 that's excellent as would any reading between 5 and 6 be.

My doctor actually suspects I could be T1.5 slow onset of T1 because I had Ketoacidosis last September that’s when I found out I was diabetic.

I was put on insulin just for 13 days and now on Metformin x1000mg.

I will have antibody C-peptide and GAD tests end of Jan.

On the other hand I could just be T2 going into remission?

5.9 for me today, a bit high as usual!

Can’t seem to get below 5!

Hi t2, I’m type 2 too but on insulin and lots of other meds due to other complications my dn wants me to use 6.5 for my Hba1c so I like my Bg to be below 6 . I feel ok unless I’m below 3 so I try to keep mine between 4 and 6. I’ve only been I. Insulin for 8 months so I’m still learning every single day. The cold weather and a cold have altered my insulin needs due to not wanting to eat. It’s such a long learning process I was first diagnosed around 15 years ago and still learn every day kim

Try to use chick pea flour i think it’s works really well

I would love to learn from you. Share experiences!

Where are you based?

5.8 this morning - does happy dance
I’ve made the decision that I don’t want this cold anymore or for it to head towards bronchitis. Let’s wait and see whether my body listens to me head - if only it was that simple
Morning Goacher55. I'll add my "Mind over matter" thoughts to yours and maybe we will both chase these colds away.

My bg at 7:00am- 8.6
I blame Darth Vader and the popcorn. Now at 9:30am, 5.3.
My meter is showing a 14 day average of 5.8 and a 90 day average of 6.2
I feel very dehydrated and need to drink more water. 60oz/day minimum isn’t near enough.
Finally warmed up to a balmy-9°c today, far cry from yesterday’s -30°c. Of course yesterday was the day I had to switch my tires around. Go figure.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Hope you are ok.
Hope your not to badly hurt sometimes effects of a fall affect you a day or so later so take care sending big hugs

Thanks guys! I was still aching a bit yesterday, but a long soak in a hot bath helped, and I am a lot better today.
@dogslife, the broken arm sounds bad, I think being well wrapped in layers including quilted jacket probably cushioned my fall and prevented any fractures or broken bones.

I thought I'd have a black eye today, as the gash was just at side of eye, but that hasn't happened.
Still I suppose I'm lucky not to have broken any bones.
Thanks @Glenmac and @Granny_grump_ It's made me realise I need to be more careful in icy weather. We are more fragile when we get older.
Most of the aches and pain has subsided, but I do have a black eye today.

Glad there was no lasting damage, Prem51. "Every cloud---" as they say. If it hadn't been cold/icy you probably wouldn't have slipped in the first place but then you wouldn't have been wearing padded clothes either to soften the fall. Glad the soak in the bath helped. It usually works for me. Take care.

So... 5.9 this fine day. Ok, it's been raining most of it, but I'm sure it's fine somewhere in the world.

Kinda suprised given I tried a couple of large jacket potatoes with cheese & pesto last night. Post-meal from that was 7.5. As for what we're allowed to eat.. I guess it's all good things in moderation, and test to see what your response is. I seem to do ok with dry roasted peanuts and they're probably better than munching biscuits. The KP tub I've got says they're only 7.2g/100g carbs. I've never been a fan of peanut butter though, possibly because a lot of commercial versions taste very sweet & probably contain a lot of sugar. Making it's easy, just grind peanuts to preferred texture with a little peanut or veg oil.

Are we allowed to eat peanuts? Aren’t they high in carbs?

What are your ingredients for peanut butter please?
Peanuts are carby so I treat them with caution but they are rich in good fats I believe.

I mearly take 300 or 400 grams of dry roated peanuts place in blender, blend for a couple of minuts then add a smaal amount of olive oil and then continue blending until they are of the right consistency for your taste and turn out into a container.. Sometimes I add sweetener rather than honey.

I do not add salt because I prefer not to.

2 cups (300 grams) unsalted shelled peanuts

1/4 to 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt

1 to 2 teaspoons honey

1 to 3 teaspoons peanut or vegetable oil, if needed

  • If you are making crunchy peanut butter, add 1/3 cup of the roasted peanuts to the bowl of a food processor. Pulse 6 to 8 times, or until the peanuts are chopped into very small pieces. Transfer chopped peanuts to a bowl and reserve for later.

Add the roasted peanuts to the bowl of a food processor. Process 1 minute then scrape sides of bowl with a rubber spatula. Process another 2 to 3 minutes until the peanut butter is shiny and smooth. Add your desired amount of salt and honey then process until combined. For crunchy peanut butter then just stir in the reserved chopped nuts.
