What will

Conservatives privatising the NHS mean for us Diabetics?

Lets just hope that this never happens or God help us!

But hypothetically speaking, would that result in us paying for prescriptions or would it be done in raising taxes? I'm just very curious to find out, everything I read skirts around the budget and funding for their current proposals in true Conservative style.

Hi folks
Don't worry too much. Even the overpaid mp's cannot exterminate us but i'll tell you one thing "If every member on this site was to sign a petition about our poor service from the nhs then handed in to no10 guess what? They would'nt give a monkey's However should we put the case into the european eec rules Good old uk would have to abide by eec rulings and our stance of ground could actualy force our goverment to abide .Remember fello diabetics (safety in numbers )

I am no lover of ANY Political Party.......they are ALL the same.

Fine promises which never materialise and lots of embellishments, prevarication and fine sounding words. What would Labour do, what would ANY party do ? Could any of them do any better ? I doubt it very much. We have seen years of Tory control, years of Labour control, now a rag bag coalition. None of them so far have been very good at all things.......good in parts is all I would say.

As for what it all means in fiscal and practical terms for those of us who have to rely on the NHS, who knows. I don't have a crystal ball........

Ha ha I don't think we should get into political opinions here, it could get quite heated. But having said that you're right, no singular party has followed through on all promises and been good in all areas. I guess all we can do is hope! The current CON-DEM government we have is a shambles, I'm hoping there will be a re-election. But anyway, back on track - I can only think that if it came to being forced into paying for prescriptions there will in the very least be a national outcry.

I agree that if it ever came to pass you would find me on the frontline .......I have never been shy in coming forward as they say......

As for Politics on a Diabetes Forum.......yep, something best avoided.

I seem to remember that drug addicts got free needles before diabetics in the far distant past of my early days. I just hope that we don't end up paying, and drug and alcohol abusers continue to get the scripts free of charge!!!

It seems to me that drug users make a choice.. a poor one...maybe death is for them is better.....

Back to reality for us.....

Diabetics only NHS choice is to follow ' so called healthy eating choices ' which are cr*p. As we all know, the only health in our current food choices available in supermarkets is the fabulous profits available to the food police companies. I suggest that 90% of the cr*p that is on the shelves is Carb based cr*p and promoted by the Food Manufacturers and of course promoted as healthy by the 'poor' medical society, and pharmaceutical interests ( not much profit there then ! poor s*ds ! ). have to get on with it. ( Statin profits 2009 - $29 billion ) jUST A THOUGHT, off track - sorry.

I was told by my NHS clinic that i would be going on insulin 2 years ago, well, I told them where they could stick their needles, and the dietician told me to rapidly increase my carb intake. !

We are not in any form of conatact any more.

What a surprise.....this is not so much a ramble as a rant....

They wonder why diabetes is increasing ! stop selling cr*p! stop buying cr*p !

So no response at all ?
