What would happen

Ah yes Mileana, looks like you are right. That would be very misleading for a Type 2 trying to judge the impact of a particular food on BG or an insulin user trying to estimate dose!

Don't panic!! Once in a blue moon won't do too much damage. just go for a brisk walk and drink a load of water.

That would depend entirely on how much sugar was consumed. 1 teaspoon of white granulated sugar contains 5g of carbs, now I would think most diabetics could eat 5g of carbs without a really noticeable spike, a measurable rise perhaps but not a spike but obviously if you were to eat a couple of tablespoons of it ie. 15 tablespoons or 30g carbs then obviously a spike would be measurable by most if not all diabetics.

Quite why anyone felt the need to attack Glucosegirl though is beyond me, diabetics can eat sugar just as they can eat anything else they like, it is the amount of sugar one eats that will determine whether or not it is good or bad for us.

@ lucylocket61 I do low carb...I was just wondering how harmful it would be if by mistake you ate a WHOLE christmas pudding and 12 Mince pies...By Mistake mind you

@Sid Bonkers I do not think they are having a go at Glucosegirl in person just the answer she gave that can be a bit misleading

diabetics can eat what they want depends how ill they want to get, like anyone else....and If I was not such a FAT B and did more exercise and did not eat all the junk food I "might" not have got diabetes..So ye eat what you want and pay the price

I repeat, as I said before - a rise.....I didnt mention a spike. 1 teaspoon of white sugar, as the only carb in a meal, would probably not cause a harmful spike. But if several small amount of sugar or carbs were eating over a 30 minute space, for example, that may well tip the T2 into a harmful spike, so its a good idea to be aware of what effect even small amounts have on your body.

All I have to say on the matter now is.......

Just one question!

Have you noticed or maybe its only me!, that we diabetics become very sensitive to foods or sweets or anything that contains the sugar-free SORBITOL !, If i just have a chewing gum sugar free and it cntains SORBITOL, it has a very quick intestinal result!
Diahorrea,

thanks,
kene,
