Whatever possessed me?

From your other posts, looks like you are doing fine.:)

I am, thank you. I got over that little miserable blip and don’t feel like I’ve missed out today. I’ve allowed myself a little of what I want but have been keeping an eye on levels. May have a glass of wine to help the reduction a bit.

Two glasses of wine, and you just don't care.

Same here, this also my first Christmas since diagnosis. Just now already have a hyperglycemia episode thanks to high carbs food. Maybe i too inexperience on my bolus dosage and let my bs spike to 23.
I am sorry to hear that but at least you were aware of it and resolved it with the appropriate action. It is hard to get diet under control, I know that all too well. I was on a feeding tube down my nose, for many months while dealing with a pancreatitis diagnosis. That was on top of being diabetic so it was hard to find food I could eat. I wish you the best in dealing with the carbs, you can do it, just keep fighting and never give up.

My T2 didn't stop me going out for our traditional Christmas Eve Indian, and I'm on very LC diet! It's a question of choosing the right things on the menu to eat. Had full English for breakfast, a couple of small LC sausage rolls mid day and ate about 730pm last night so my BG levels were low before we ate 4.8 then 7.9 90 mins later.

Christmas day again plan ahead, full English for breakfast and Christmas Dinner at 3 pm, turkey sausage stuffing, pigs in blankets LC cranberry & bread sauces [homemade], sprouts, LC Cauliflower cheese, leeks & swede LC Choc cake almond cake with soaked with Cointreau & double cream & a cheese board with D.Coke & 2 glasses of Prosseco. Before I ate my BG was 7.4, ]went for a 30 min walk, then BG 90 mins after eating it was 7.2 and I don't feel like I've missed out on anything.

BTW I should be on 4 Metformin tablets now, 10 weeks on I'm still only taking one [hope to stop that in next 3 months] The LCHF way of eating has given me control over my BG and it's improving weekly.

Whatever possessed me to get back on the wagon this week, with Christmas being here?
Absolutely bloody miserable that I cannot have anything I like. No traditional Xmas eve Indian or tex mex nibbles, no potatoes, no stuffing and no mum’s choc pudding.
Substitutes never come close (cauli rice, I’m Looking at you)

I know I’ll thank myself eventually and feel better for not giving in but tonight I’m going to wallow in self pity.

Merry Christmas everyone, here’s to hoping the self restraint holds!

If you are missing chocolate pudding , try this. so rich and satisfying :)
