Hi,

just been on holiday and my numbers have gone all wrong

i had been averaging 4 to 7 for months. Last hba1c was 44 (6%)

i take a mixed insulin, and was 20 units on the morning, 32 at night. Last week i had to increase to 30 am and 45 pm as im not averaging 11 to 16. this has been consisted for the last 2 weeks.

I usually exercise 4 times a week, but while away i only managed 3 times in 2 weeks, but it was hot and i walked a lot, plus there was a pool so did a fair bit swimming.

I am a slow T1. Been on insulin since december. im 34 and weigh 92 kilos.

I can only assume ive moved a bit closer to needing basal bolus, but i could be wrong??????

Your thoughts are appreciated

Regards

Paul

Hi Paul, you will probably find now you are home again your levels will sort themselves out. A change of routine can impact on BG levels, different food, exercise, weather, it all has an effect. If they don't return to normal in a week or so get some advice from your DN. good luck :)

Look at what you were eating on holiday.
We often change this whilst being away. Especially if influenceed by other members of the party.
Some people may be inclined to drink a bit more too. If you look back thoroughly, you'll probably find your answer.

Hi Paul!

I'm also LADA and always find my levels change badly when I'm out of my routine even if I'm very strict about what I eat. Just changing the time of my insulin, food, getting up and going to bed at different times, etc seem to make a difference. You might have reached the stage where you need basal/bolus, but don't assume that until you've been back in your routine for a couple of weeks and see if your levels stabilise. LADA is never easy and you have my sympathy!

Having said all that, I'm really happy I went onto bolus/basal - I really do think it's the best way to manage LADA. Still a struggle for no apparent reason sometimes though!

Take care

Smidge

hi all, thanks for the advice.

ive just had my first training session today, and i ate exactly what i usually eat, and so far everything is back to normal.

Smidge, how long have you been diagnosed? How long did you take mixed before you were moved?
