What's the implication for diabetic complications?

soaps on telly and people talking about the characters as if they were real.
I've just watched the Horizon programme on aging. If, as it appears, it really IS the glycans, which are at the root of skin aging and the blood glucose levels determine how old you look [with diabetics looking older than people with average blood glucose and low glucose individuals looking youngest] as this programme seemed to confirm. What is the impact of glycan levels on the tissues involved in the development of complications and will there be useful results beyond "anti-aging" creams?
This looks like a very important field of research. It's already produced a vaccine against malaria.
I shall be watchintg the literature with interest.
AND I shall be keeping my blood glucose DOWN

I've heard a few people say recently that diabetics tend to look older than non-diabetics. To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure I buy it. You can prove anything if you manipulate the data enough! I've always been told I look young for my age (long may it continue!) and I know plenty of non diabetics who are the same age as me who look a **** sight worse!

Still, just to be safe, I am going to slap some extra anti wrinkle cream on tonight!

I don't buy this! I look young for my age, and had uncontrolled blood sugars for 17 years. Maybe I'm just an anomaly though

Not at all, I'm in my 31st year and still get told I look much younger than I am, so many other lifestyle factors determine how well we look.

After a long day out yesterday, I missed alot of the programme, because I nodded off  An age thing or an exhausting hot day thing? RRB

My blood glucose levels would be well into the normal rane and hopefully dropping down into low.
I'm often toldd I don't look 65.
