So this happened...

My endocrinologist and my doctor were both prescribing me Victoza, Jardiance, Lantis, Metformin and 300 units Insulin per injection, 1200 units per day. My sugars kept going higher and higher.

Every morning I would test at 300+ and by evening I could at times test at 700+.

I had a bad bout of health and decided to drop all medications. A year later, I have reduced my A1C from 11 to 6.6 and my sugars now test at or below 180. With 180 being the highest I have tested.

Nothing has changed, except my medications. I still eat the same.

Does anyone out there have any clues as to why I've had this turn around?

Hi. To be honest that's a weird mix of medication anyway. Insulin & Victoza is unusual. I suspect you may have been eating too many carbs and the insulin would be just adding to insulin resistance and weight gain. At least you can now start from scratch, haver a good low-carb diet and take it from there.

As I said in my original post, only the meds have been dropped. My diet hasn't changed. If anything I may have increased my carb intake slightly.

Perhaps the medication gave your pancreas a chance to rest & heal. Sounds like beta cell recovery to me.

Outside chance it was connected to your bad bout of health depending what that was and how it was treated?

Did activity or weight change?

Hi,

Yes, activity changed due to covid and the restrictions and i do workout at home but due to my high blood sugar my motivation to workout has been difficult but my weight has remained the same.
