Hi, it's been three weeks, feels like three years, I'm eating pretty well trying to reduce carbs as much as possible, my medication has been doubled to 2000mg Metformin a day which has brought me down from twenties to mid teens to getting some fives and sixes to nines and tens, I'm testing before and after most meals and results seem to range five either way and there doesn't seem to be a pattern for instance one morning 6.0 next morning 10.0 so my question is, when can I expect to see a steady pattern asuming I will see one so I can tell what's affecting my bg and what is ok for me?

Thanks in advance

Well id like to know this answer too! Lol
Bn at this since May 12 had meds upped n added to yet BS still high. Fasting is 12.5-13.9 during dsy 11.5- 20.4. Lower carb intake to less than 50g a day lost 1st in 3 wks yet still nothing! Grrrr! Off work on sick due to new meds n high BS making me so ill n tired. Finally got doc to send me to diabetic vlinic this Thursday after he gave me insilin but then spoke to them who said not to tske it yet n that theu would see me n see whats happening.
So waiting continues as dose feeling ****** n like death is near :-(

Hi. I wouldn't take too much notice of the variation in morning readings due to the over-night liver dump effect. Most of us see unexplained changes in our sugar readings and all you can do is try to take an average view. You should see a settling of your state after a few weeks of Metformin and diet. If that still doesn't bring your sugars into range then you need to return to the GP. If you are overweight then the readings should come down as you lose weight. If you are young and not overweight then bear in mind that it's possible to have late onset T1 which needs more medication than Metformin

I'm glad someone posted this thread title because despite encouraging hb1ac,cholesterol tests weight loss, muscle gain and diet control i still fluctuate from anything between 4.7 to occasionally over 11.
I seem to be going back to the drawing hoard somewhat and scratching my head.
I'm a ****** for trying new stuff though (foods and remedies) so hardly surprising really.
