Hello I am a 26 year old type 1 diabetic, I work for a big tech company selling computers and kitchen appliances (take a guess to where that is) I've worked there since 2018 and got diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2019. During this time I told my work about it and I was told that they would treat it very seriously. They did for the first 6 months but then as pressure increased and we got more and more short staffed, I was being told to wait for lunches as i just need to 'serve this one more customer'. Now you can be with a customer for a very long time, especially because we have to persuade them to buy a bunch of things for our KPI's and targets, you'd be threatened to be sacked over even if you missed one. I'd go back to a manger and the que would be even bigger and id keep getting denied lunches. I had no time to even get a drink of water let alone check my finger pricks. It would get so bad by the time i got to my lunch id be in a hypo. I was about to quit in 2020 because of how often it was happening and then i got the opportunity to work for home. It made my life a lot more easier to mange my diabetes and i would save money on travel and i wouldn't have such a long journey in. now its the end of 2022 and they are asking me to go back into store and i have refused because of how badly i was treated when it comes to my diabetes. Where do I stand with this?

They have to comply with the Equality Act, which covers making reasonable adjustments for an employee with diabetes:

Thank you and what if they aren't complying with that act? Where would go with that?

Hi,

Welcome to the forum.

Your HR (Human resources) department should help, if your manager is unwilling to comply?
