Where have all those words and expressions gone ?

the Devil finds work for idle hands to do
Look before you leap
Many a true word is spoken in jest
Little pitchers have big ears
Eavesdroppers never hear good things of themselves
 
It's raining cats and dogs ( actually true in centuries gone by, as thatched roof was only at low shoulder height and cats and dogs could get up in the thatch and make a resting place.....but as soon as it rained out they jumped........hence raining cats and dogs :)
