Where in the world.......

NI wasn't so nice in 1984! Still plenty of knee-cappings and explosions going on. We used to turn the news on to find the shop we'd just been in was no longer standing.

I remember driving off the ferry and into the NI countryside for the very first time and the views were stunning. Stark contrast to the towns.

I decided to go back to England when my daughter got very excited about some cows in a field but didn't even notice the massive roadblock ahead and loads of armed soldiers in the road.

I live in Hampshire about 10mins walk from where I was born on the Sussex side of the border. I'm not really much of a traveller but have a list of places I want to visit before I shuffle off this mortal coil - mostly neolithic sites (Julian Cope's Modern Antiquarian is my travel guide) My son is the well travelled one mostly courtesy of HM Forces. My husband was a professional musician when we got married (had to change the date of the wedding as he'd got a gig in Poland for two weeks) and has travelled all over this country and Europe. I sometimes think I should be a bit more adventurous but feel guilty leaving the cats for longer than a few days even though I know they are fed and watered.
 

I lived in Craigavon in 1984, and I loved it there. The Irish are so warm, even to an obvious Brit at that time :wink: I used to knit for a shop in Lurgan making genuine Irish Arans lol.

I have spent all 30 years of my life in northern ireland and wouldnt have it any other way!!!

I have talked to many people over the years about how much it's changed. My son and I are planning a visit as soon as we can co-ordinate some time off together. I occasionally look at Google map to see if I can remember the place but like most things, it changes so much and my older memory is obviously rubbish!

Lisburn well its changed so much since the early 80's, you probabaly wouldnt even recognise it now. It was even given a city status a few years back.
But im sure your aware seeing as you lived here that there are alot better places than Lisburn to visit. You cant visit Northern Ireland without taking a drive around the most amazing Antrim Coast, the scenery is so breath taking. I hope you enjoy your stay when you visit for a holiday.
 
Born in Paddington West London, brought up 5 mins up the road in Maida Vale, then Notting Hill.

Have since lived in Hammersmith, Brixton and have now lived in Streatham South London for over 25 years.

Became famous for having the worst high street inthe UK a few years ago. Seriously.

I am a complete rural girl. Just the idea of cities sends me into panic mode. I was born a true Geordie girl, lived in Newcastle Upon Tyne, left as soon as possible, went to live beside the sea at Whitley Bay. Then moved to Aylesbury in Bucks, was there a couple of months and moved into a stunning village called Quainton in Buckinghamshire, then to Alnwick in Northumberland. Had three very mind and body healing years in South Wales, before moving to Ashington in Northumberland. Now in a tiny rural north east village, surrounded by fields, sheep and cows - bliss. I will be moving late this year early next as I am getting re-married. we will be in the same(ish) area though, or perhaps back to Northumberland.
 
Ashington..My grandad lives not far from there,Woodhorn Village,near the woodhorn Grange Pub/Hotel.Small world!
 
Born and dragged up in Finchley, London. But ran away (not really, I was an officer and a gentleman)(yeah right) to sea when i was 17 so lived on ships around the world for 10 years. Won't list them all! Did 50 countries in first 15 months.
Now reside disgracefully in Chelmsford like the clapped out old sea dog I am, perched on a barrel of rum with a (stuffed)(pretend) parrot in a cage.
You think I'm joking don't you?
 
I live in SWEDEN. SWEDEN is a great country. In SWEDEN one of the diets they promote is the really good low carbohydrate diet for diabetics that I follow. I highly recommend it and SWEDEN :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

My Dad was RAF so.....

Born in Holland, came to UK briefly when I was three - Havant in Hampshire - four months later back to Holland. Came back when I was 8 to Bedfordshire (Shortstown, Dad was at Henlow) Then moved to Cheshire, then Glasgow. Married, went out to Germany. Came back to Somerset (Mum is from here) then went to Aberdeenshire, then back to Somerset. We've also had short sojourns in France, USA, Gan and Italy. This is the longest I've ever lived in one place, but get itchy feet regularly.
