Where is the new forum then?

Which will arrive first - the new forum or a cure for all forms of diabetes?

Sorry for the delays! Basically, over the next 2 days we're having the IP of the site moved to accommodate the forum. So we've got our fingers crossed for Wednesday! :)

Hi guys - just to let you know that the site and forum have been moved to a dedicated server. We're sorry for the downtime - it seems the last server we had couldn't cope with the number of people.

So... to cut a long story short, we're on a brand spanking new server, so it should all be OK from here on.

In the next few days, we'll have the new forum up too - we're working hard to make sure that its a smooth transition!

Hi

I've experienced problems getting onto the forum for a few days as it has kept timing out. I've also noticed that some of the fields on profiles have disappeared - will these be restored when the new forum goes live?

Val

Yup - everything will be restored and all fields will be inputtable (did I just make up a word? :)).

The forum seems to have been working efficiently over the last 24 hours since the move - we just want to make sure everythings OK before we move - plus we have to move all of the threads across, which was proving a bit of a nightmare, but we're almost there. I'm keener than anybody to get the new forum up!!!

Thanks for reply. I think we are all looking forward to the new forum. Must say that this one has been good.

New forum wouldnt accept my password so I had to get a new one then discover how to change it back then change it. Also it seems to have lost a few posts. Not impressed.

Unfortunately, we were unable to salvage the posts made since 11AM this morning - we had to perform a conversion from Snitz (the old forum) to this one.

Due to the conversion process, we would have to either close the forum completely or perform a conversion and then perform the switch. We decided on the latter.

Sadly, we can't keep everyone happy - we really have tried hard to make this forum the best it can be - its faster, more efficient, and also made to keep the spammers out. No-one likes change, and this forum will take a bit of getting used to. There were alot of problems in the transition, notably that we're moving from Access to MySQL and ASP to PHP! The reason we moved in the first place was because the members had enoguh of the spam, and also the reliability wasn't 100%. Hopefully, the new forum should solve these issues.

We sent an email out to all registered members letting them know they may have to re-authenticate their usernames. This was sent at around 4PM. Apologies if you didn't receive this. Hopefully you'll understand the predicament we were in, and now it's full steam ahead!!
