Not been tested yet but I know they'll find me pre-diabetic when they get round to it. I've always had totally normal BGs of under 5.5. Now since starting a whole bunch of heart meds, my BG is always mid 7s. (Hubby is long term type 2 and I was using his meter to check what was going on with me). Is there anything I can do now to pre-empt this? I'd rather stop it before it starts if you know what I mean.

Can you ask your Doctor about this also ask a pharmacist if our tablets may be causing this

NHS site says these meds will - or at least a couple of them - will cause a rise in BG and patients should be tested regularly just in case.

I am on heart meds and my diet-controlled BG went from 5s to 6s once I started taking them. Check with the information leaflet if your drugs do this.

Try it and see. Wouldn't work for me as there is no leeway to tighten mine, but you know what you eat and can cut back on.

I will, for a short time. Just a bit doubtful that food can make a difference now. Will try it and see :)

Food is your medicine, reduce the carbs, increase fat and protein, you're in a good place to stop it from getting to diabetes. Eat one ingredient e.g, broccoli, cauli, don't eat anything that comes from a factory and shop on the edge of supermarkets, and don't fear the butter.

Husband has been diet controlled for years, using low carb. I can eat the same as him now, see how it goes.
Thanks both xxx
