Personally, I try not to share too much personal information like home town on the internet in order to reduce the risk of identity theft and stalking.
Sure, the chances are low (especially on a diabetes forum where everyone seems to be very friendly and helpful) but I still try to be careful. I even have an "internet birthday" which is different to my real birthday. Perhaps I'm paranoid?
