Any finger really, it's up to you. I tend not to use my index finger as I find when I put eyeshadow or whatever on, the colour gets trapped in the holes and looks odd lol.
I think we're all different. I try to use a different finger each time, in my case there are no good or bad fingers. One day my index is brilliant, the next day it's hopeless. Always use soap and water for cleaning if you can. DO NOT use 'wet wipes' or 'alcohol wipes' as the content of these can sqew your bg results.
I use the sides of the pads and use my thumb to push the pad over to make a bulge ..
I don't use the thumb or forefinger or outer side of little finger much [trying to keep the sensory nerves good, I think I'm over reacting ]
really dirt. I wash them..normal, I just lick and wipe on my trousers..
don't use alcohol swabs, it's bad for fingers.
I use my pen on a the lowest number I can and milk a drop..if it freely bleeds, it may be too deep and will be more painful and seem longer to heal
I use a different finger/thumb 'every' time.
I keep rotating them .
I find they get a bit sore otherwise .
Pad sides only not finger tips - or gets a bit ouch factored .
Only use soap and water pre-testing .
No wet wipes or alcohol clinical wipes either .
These can affect my true blood sugar readings .
Lancet setting on a number 2 for me - I find is best for me .
Hubby has his set on a number 5 (tougher skin) plus he is a bloke !
Each to their own ...
Anyone know why you shouldn't use your thumb? When my DN said that I would make my fingers sore by testing I said I
wouldn't because I always use my thumb ,she didn't say anything !

I think it's got something to do with the fact that they are the digits we use most. If our index finger or thumb was to be out of action it would hinder us more than any of the other fingers being out of action
