I currently use the Accu-Chek Mobile meter, which is brilliant, but I would like to know about other peoples experience with different meters and what sort of meter suits you. As the Mobile is strip free it is probably one of the best, but I don't have any diabetic family that I can talk to about their meters.

I have a Freestyle Lite this is my second one and before that I had the Freestyle mini. I have to buy my strips, so it's not cheep to use, but it needs a drop of blood, so small you can barely see it and it's quick. It will download to the pooter, but I don't use this facility. It only has 3 buttons!!
It comes in a neat small carrying case, which can slip on to a belt and is really small, with good clear read-out.
Also if you don't get quite enough blood first time, you can top up. I don't think many meters allow that. Abbott Diabetes Care, who suplied it give an impeccable service and upgraded me to this meter for Free a while back.
I'd certainly ecommend it

I got an iBGStar on Monday, before that I used a Freestyle Optium and before that an Accu-Chek Nano.

I have a One Touch Ultra 2 as this is the one that I can get some strips prescribed for by my GP as a Type 2, not going to rock the boat and ask for different strips as they may get withdrawn.

Accu-Chek Nano which is a great little meter and very reliable, does tend to use up the batteries quite quick... but as they are supplied free this isn't a problem.

If my meter gets enough blood, it beeps. If the strip hasn't got quite enough, the "add bloodd" icon keeps flashing and I can stab again and Add some. Once it's beeped, that's it. I have my Stabber set at 2 [of4] and use AST Alternative Site Testing, so occasionally don't get enough blood for even this meter. It needs o.03mm3 That is tiny. Husband's ACCU CHECK needs MUCH MORE and doesn't allow Top-up.

PS saves on wasting strips

I have an Accu -Check Mobile and I love it. Easy to take around with me and no hassle of getting rid of used test strips.

Just been sent a free Bayer Contour USB and will keep this as my spare. Not sure about it yet as I haven't had chance to use it.

Have used The Accu-Check nano and found them too heavy on batteries and had hassles getting them free, as Accu- Check were a bit snotty with me. I changed the meter 3 times because they said it was faulty, so gave up and asked for a Mobile.

I use an Accu-Chek Advantage. I think its pretty much stone-age now - had it 11 years now but it still works fine and have had no problems with it. Why change? It suits me and does what it says on the box!!

GlucoDock from Medisana - but then I am an iPhone freak and like to have everything where I can get to it in one place. I also have the Contour USB as a backup but the test strips are expensive.

The only product from the Accu-Chek range that I like is the Multiclix lancet device. This is my preferred weapon of choice and has led to significantly fewer sore finger days.
