I'm currently having to take intravenous steroids for thyroid eye disease but as some of you are probably aware steroids raise blood sugars.
I'm stuck though as my lantus has been raised to constant fight off the high sugars for 48 to 72 hours. If i go above 40 units I hypo for up to 72 hours if i go below 40 units I'm having to take novorapid correction doses.
Having changed my lantus and having a very physical job I feel my lantus drops my sugar levels very quickly but when i finish and my body settles down it still drops constantly. During the night though it levels out between 4.5 and 6.
Which would be best to go correction or eating constantly?
Is there something i can eat which releases carbs to consistently keep my sugars up over few or several hours?
