OOOhh. lovely Izzzi. I like the red seats. Red is my favourite colour.......

Did any one watch that brilliant documentary on Spike Milligan the other night ??

Brilliant programme. I was a tad too young to appreciate the Goons but it is very clear where the seed of Monty Python was created. Especially Spikes Q series which I did watch when I was young and loved.

Wonderful man......

damm missed it, many years ago we were in Eastbourne hospital on a visit. my young son and I were walking along a corridor when Spihe Milligan was coming in our direction with a nurse helping him walk. He still took the time to stop and say something nice to my son. how nice was that.

I have watched a prog before about him and thought it was the same one but it wasn't.

He was a nutcase in many peoples' eyes and his manager described his moods as 'when he was on his way up he was at the most creative and when he got the the top he was completely bonkers.' (That's when the Qs were at the forefront.) Then he went over the top of his curve and went down badly and quickly and always ended up in a mental hospital for a few weeks and had Electro Convulsive Therapy and he said it straightend his brain wires out and he was then able to return to his scriptwriting. He used to be holed up for usually 5 weeks where he would lie in a bed doing absolutely nothing. Nowadays it was probably be Bi-Polar.
The guy was a genious. And a nice genious at that.

One of the really funny stories that came from one of his 3 kids was when Peter Sellers would visit and Spike was ask for some toast and 'special honey' which was bought to him. And the kids remember the aching laughter which would come out of the room.Laughing so hard they couldn't breathe or speak. Turned out the 'special honey' came from Mexico and the bees used cannabis plants for the nectar. So it was hemp honey.
Spike and Peter were very good friends and very close......

I smoked good grass years ago and the fits of giggles are a happy memory.

I will see if I can find you an link to a catch up Izzzi....... I have forgotten what side it was on.......
