Who got chocs off Santa?

I love chocolates and still eat a few so emphasised good quality over quantity and it seems to have worked, one small box of dark chocolate mints. I also got a low carb cook book off my mother, I don't know if the recipies are any good I've not really gone through it yet, but the thought is in the right direction.

I already know I'm lucky with family and friends but half the threads i read really reiterate the point.

Yep, chocs and biscuits here.
I can't deal with the people who don't understand particularly OH's mother (Type 2 and now she says she is Type 1 and his Dad Type 2) who gave us a 'joint' present of chocs.
We normally say 'no presents' to his sister. That is ignored - we give them chocs, they give us chocs back. Not this year, OH missed out.

I'm finding it very hard to explain myself to people who look at me as if I have two heads when I tell them I'm not eating chocs/biscuits/mince pies. They make me feel like I am making this stuff up, then I have something and end up with the consequences.

My work colleagues have been fine - I might be imagining it but there seemed to be less chocolate at work than normal - despite me insisting they should just 'carry on as normal'.

My wife, bless her, bought me some 'chilli oil' from Tescos.
I haven't cooked with oil for years, so I just said thank you, and I'll have three bottles of oil on display in the kitchen for a while.
(It starts at 1% chilli)

My daughter got me

'Named due to its relentless heat, this sauce is for those that crave the exquisite fire & flavour of the red habanero chilli. Packed full of the citrus & perfumed flavour of the habanero, the addition of a pure chilli (ghost pepper) extract measuring over 6,400,000 SHU extends & intensifies the paradoxical blend of pleasure & pain. '

We had a chili sauce eating contest on christmas day.
Much to her displeasure, she lost hands down.

In time the message will get through, I never get given presents like this but I've been diagnosed 33 years.

Just pass the chocolates/sweets and biscuits on as a gift to a loved one or close friend, alternatively donate them to a local food bank or charity, they will no doubt make someone's day :)

That's a very good idea actually. If I get anymore I'll take them to a food bank

I got a low-carb cook book. I may have shouted from my soap box long enough and hard enough. LOL

Having said that, my MIL has insisted on making a desert for when my wife's cousins and aunt come for dinner tonight, so of the six of us, there's 3 type II diabetics (one on insulin) and my wife who is happy to avoid carbs. That's a lot of cake between the two of them. LOL

My immediate family don't buy me sweets anymore... That said, Santa left me a tiny bar of marzipan in my stocking and one of my friends got me some diabetic sweets. However at work, I have been given lots of bad things, chocolates, biscuits etc etc... So what I did was open them in the office and shared them with all my colleagues.... What I couldn't share with the people at work I took round to friends and family when I went a visiting...

I got a tin of shortbread from an in law and will just give to someone who can use it. A tin of mixed veg would have suited me more lol. Hope everyone had a good Christmas.

I was over 3 yrs diagnosed before I hit rock bottom and started to take my diabetes seriously.. I have found the best way to help myself is to be honest - I know if I take them home I would eat them...so by sharing them or giving them away, I get a taste without all the guilt that goes with it.

Nice one @Kezzer4321 :-)

My type 2 father brought 3 boxes of chocs to my house and my 2 sisters took them all away with them when they left.

I got from my husband a set of Chinese rice bowls and a kitchen clock -which proves he only listens to half of what I say, which was: "If you see bowls to match our Chinese rice bowls or a kitchen clock with a diameter of 20cm get them, but under no circumstances are they to form any part of my Christmas pressie as they are for the house."

So, basically, two out of two there.

If it was me, you'd probably have got a 20 cm rice bowl with a built in timer. :)
(And I would have had to had looked for that as well)

Keep him!
