Wholegrain carbs

So gone much healthier this past month and love wholegrain rice for dinner. Tonight I had 2 boiled eggs, mixed vegetables, spring onion, tomatoes and wholegrain rice. Total carb count was about 70g. I always find that I drop quickly within the hour until I can pretty much be below 4.5 and then rise slowly after 2 hours to 10 or so. I inject 15 minutes prior to meal and I know wholegrains are slow releasing carbs so the insulin works a bit faster but is there anything I can do can prevent the quick drop and slow rise?

Was thinking of maybe shifting my injection to after the meal or just before I eat instead of waiting 15 minutes. Anyone got any advice? I normally counter it by watching my levels and if they drop to low had something to boost me up a tad bit. Then 2 hours later 1 unit of rapid normally prevents the spike and levels it off around 6-7. Obviously I'd prefer to not inject twice.

Try it and see what happens. I'd be more unhappy about eating for hypos than having to give an extra injection.... Good luck.

Or try splitting the dose. Some to start you off as usual and the rest 30 minutes-1hr later. For me personally I split most of my doses unless the meal is very low carb.
