So gone much healthier this past month and love wholegrain rice for dinner. Tonight I had 2 boiled eggs, mixed vegetables, spring onion, tomatoes and wholegrain rice. Total carb count was about 70g. I always find that I drop quickly within the hour until I can pretty much be below 4.5 and then rise slowly after 2 hours to 10 or so. I inject 15 minutes prior to meal and I know wholegrains are slow releasing carbs so the insulin works a bit faster but is there anything I can do can prevent the quick drop and slow rise?
Was thinking of maybe shifting my injection to after the meal or just before I eat instead of waiting 15 minutes. Anyone got any advice? I normally counter it by watching my levels and if they drop to low had something to boost me up a tad bit. Then 2 hours later 1 unit of rapid normally prevents the spike and levels it off around 6-7. Obviously I'd prefer to not inject twice.
