Why do we take Metformin?

It seems that when I read through these forums there seem to be no positive affects of Metformin. People say it won't help with weight loss, it won't help bring down your BG, it WILL upset your stomach. So why do we take it?

Don't read too much into that. The facts are that it can help with weight loss, it can bring down your BG and it won't upset your stomach. Why do I emphasise those points? Because they apply to many people (a mix of all three or some of) but for others, they have issues with either or all of 1, 2, 3.

I don't take them anymore since I don't want drugs in my system. I get much better figures without them (never had upsets though) and lost weight thru sheer hard work. We are all different

you dont have to take them, it seems they are now the routine choice for type 2
3 people i know had higher BG on them than when they didnt take them

also I believe they are responsible for fatty liver disease

I take it you were prescribed them from the GP
did you not ask why?
after all there is no medication to treat diabetes type 2 just medication to control it

if you dont want them then work on your diet and hopefully you wont have to take pills to control your BG
