Why is it so hard to fin a BG meter that i like :(

I currently have a Accu-chek mobile. I love the idea, hate the constant errors I have from it.

Accu-check meters are very blood thirsty I find, anyone got any recommendations?

one touch verio IQ needs constant charging

next USB alright but need buttons pressing all the time!

Am i being overly fussy? i just want something easy that works :'(
 
I use a mobile and was disappointed with the accuracy. Until I was shown by the rep how to use it.

It is blood thirsty, so you need a good blob, and just let the strip absorb the blood by osmosis. Don't touch the strip. The best way I've found is to rest my finger underneath the strip and just tilt it up till the blob of blood soaks into the strip.

If you touch the strip or smear the blood it can result in high readings.

I also use an accuchek compact plus which I keep use in the house/car.

I love the convenience .of the mobile despite its flaws. Since I've been using it correctly I've had no accuracy issues. I compare the readings with my other meter using the same sample of blood and it only varies by 0.1 mmol
 
I've just tried your suggested method. My thumb did not come close to the strip! I got Error E3 my 6th today.

Customer services say its what i'm doing but I've never had so many problems with a BG meter in 25 years. This is my second mobile the first was returned.
 
They can be pernickety things. I seem to have got the hang mine, maybe it's just a "good un"
 
I use the contour next usb with the pump and there is no button pressing............


there is an option to select whether its pre meal etc but I have this switched off........
 
I actually have 2, and the first one, which broke, had the option to select type of test switched on, and i agree it was a pain........

have a look in the settings........

I fancy the libre.........
 
This is a DIY attempt at making my Combo/Expert bg meter with bolus wizard become easy to use wherever I am. I h ave used a Siemens c25
mobile phone holder which just about takes the meter with a bit of talc rubbed inside the holder so that the meter slides in ok and at the top, I have used a black 25 strip container and shoved some Aviva strips in it. At the back, there is a keyring fob which I can just about slide an Accu chek Softclix finger pricker in to be tight fit. The multiclix is too looose. This in my opinion is much cheaper to use than the Mobile meter. It actually looks like I am using a mobile to send a text msg lol


 
I have the glucomen LX plus sensor. Love it. Only needs a tiny amount of blood and don't press one single button when I test.
 
I'm using the verio iq - yes, it needs charging, but it takes tiny amount of blood and I rarely have problems with it
 
You could look at the Expert meter - it does everything !
Basal/bolus calculator and correction .
Re-test bleeper alert at appropriate retest times needed .
Does scale/graph trends of BG levels over weeks/months .
Shows Hypo trends and alarm included upon any low BG levels
taken when testing .

I use this one - and would never part from it now .

Have a couple of Aviva Nano's in both my car and hubbys car .
Use these when travelling around .
Tiny and reliable these are but so feature less compared to the Expert meter .
 
But you can only get that one from a DSN, etc? I wanted to get one, but couldn't buy it on my own.

I did get mine from a DSN that was doing an insulin users course .
Roche reps had given her a few boxes of these .
I managed to coax her into letting me have one .

Yes - these were only available via a DSN .
Unsure if this is still the case now ?
Anyone else managed to get one any other way ?
Could be useful to know about ...

Much like Anna I got mine from my DSN. its a great meter but much like all Accu-Chek meters the delay in reading the code is annoying and I've ended up spoiling a few test strips because of this, don't know why the meters need to do this since they changed them to the black chip (same code for all the test strips), but overall the Expert is very good.
 
Ive had the Expert, not overly bothered by it now I pump, that sorts all my doses out and graphs everything with the CGM as well.
 

Hi, I was given an Aviva nano as a back up and it's a great little meter, small, compact and I am pleased the diabetes department gave it to me. So, I can use my Accu-Chek Aviva Expert strips in both of my machines

After being told the one touch ultra2 is to be no more or it's test strips I rang Bayer and a very nice lady sent me 2 new contour next meters, plus all the bits and pieces to go with it. As it's different I suspect I wont be 100% happy with it for a little while but hope to get used to it once my one touch strips have been used up.
 
I am back on a freestyle lite. It's incredibly basic, but rarely has errors, gives accurate readings and doesn't require tons of blood to get it to work. I have a libre too which uses optium strips, but TBH I find it a bit of a faff as the strips need a lot of blood in comparison and if you don't get enough they fail. But when I have the sensor on I like to only carry one thing!
 
Accu chek expert for me.... it's not great if you're out on a cold day, though.
