thanks - that's why I asked the question as I know I am eating too many carbs but not sure what to cut out. I am going to order the collins carb counter. porridge doesn't spike my bs so I (wrongly) assumed it would be OK

hi from a bg low carb point of view, if it dosent spike you, then in my opinion its not wrong, the whole point of it is to reduce the stuff that pushes up your bg but, from a trying to get yourself into a ketogenic state ie. low enough carbs to make your body burn fat for energy rather than carbs then its probly not great, which sounds like what you want, keep trying and i wouldnt get disheartened yet, its still very early days and you havent weighed yourself yet, you never know but even if you have gained a tad, keep trying im sure you will reep the benefits very soon

Andy I know you do alot of baking. I was thinking of making low carb cakes, biscuits etc or should I wait till things settle down?

NO!!! dont wait, its brilliant!!! why wait? it kept me going for sure during the early days when i missed eating everything, it saved me i highly recommend it to everyone, its fun, and the stuff tastes amazing (when you get it right hehe) i never baked anything before low carb baking, so it was alot of trial and error and looking into the bowl thinking the recipe says pour it out but this looks like a solid block and then realising i had missed a important ingredient, and instead of my traditional giant toblerone from the kids for fathers day i got measuring scales and stuff like that so i was stoked and didnt give the toblerone (my absolute favourite) a second thought
