Hi!

Again it's me - just wondering I anyone had some info regarding why my fasting levels are about the same as the morning before but a tiny amount less than when I go to bed?

As in Monday fasting 4.8 4.9 and 5.0
Last night before bed 5.2
This morning fasting 5.2 and 5.7

Or is this such a small difference it doesn't matter? Is it this dawn phenomenon thing?

You are lucky, you don't seem to have the dawm phenomenon. These differences can be down to meter tolerances.

I can go to bed with these sorts of figures and wake up at 6.something.

I see... Thank you! So these figures are normal? And not dawn phenomenon?

Dawn phenomenon i not an all or nothing thing, i feel, rather a broad spectrum having a wide range of results. For some you crank up BG by a few and for others the efect can be much stronger.

If I eat my breakfast within 15 minutes of getting out of bed, still unwashed and in pink fluffy dressing gown, I don't experience any dawn phenomenon at all. My liver knows it is going to be fed. I am also flat over night, on average.

Thanks guys. I know I'm not doing myself any favours. And probably annoying the hell out of all of you too!

This hbc1a test is scheduled for Monday - am worried that it's going to be higher than I would want because of my bad eating last month or so

mon test, Wednesday result...ahhh, peace Thursday, when you are told it's all normal :) [only teasing or we would ignore your posts]
I don't think it will be normal because of my sugar levels will have been much higher before I stares home testing and being aware of it :/ obviously I know you can't tell me yes or no but I have a guy instinct and it will be my silly choices :( it really sounds like I'm attention seeking, I promise I'm not... But yes my fasting ones are normal as are my levels after food but if I was to test after I'd been eating chocolate and cake for a solid week they'd surely be higher?

Yes of course they would be higher!

Good luck with your test. Stop worrying. There is nothing you can do to change it that you aren't already doing. It will be what it will be. Stressing won't change it!

They would be higher yes but if you are still producing Insulin (which it sounds as though you are) then it will come down (which it sounds like it does) Are you on any meds?

Linda
