Type 2 Why only tested annually?

Quite simply is all down to the NHS, costs and money. We used to get checked out with a full diabetic MOT twice yearly but last year when I was refused my 6 monthly diabetic check and told that to cut costs it was now only necessciary to check a Type 2 diabetic once a year.
I personally disagree with this revised approach by the NHS as a lot can change health-wise in one year and it seems that if you take the trouble to look after yourself and avoid the numerous diabetic complication that can occur, you are punished for your effort.. It was bad enough when they withdrew the blood/glucose test strips for us Type 2's that were available on free prescription.
They want us to look after our own diabetes and control it properly, yet they are not giving us the easy basic means to control it and monitor it, and I suspect that eventually they will discover that it cost them much more in the long run.

Hi. If your HBa1C isn't that bad and you continue with the right diet and any meds then any deterioration if any should be slow hence an annual check-up is fine. This assumes you are actually T2 probably with some excess weight.
