T2D!!
Hi,

Short background; I have recently been diagnosed as T2 and take blood readings at least twice daily. Have been very strict and lost over 20kgs. BG has come down over 5 weeks to an average of 5.7. The last 2 days they have gone up from in the mid 5s to mid to late 7s. No matter when I take the reading. Diet has not changed and if anything, less carbs.

However, I suffer from eczema which generally is kept under good control. However, the last 3 weeks has been awful; irritable skin (worse it’s ever been), very red and tender and I have been unable to sleep properly. Would this and the antibiotics I have been prescribed have an adverse effect on my readings?

Sorry if this is a lame question but I am new to the whole world of BG readings and it’s workings!! Thankyou in advance.

No it's not a lame question and just about anything can and will effect your levels, illness, medication, stress, poor nights sleep, exercise and food of course

Getting the antibiotics for your eczema suggests there's a fair bit of infection going on with the eczema. Any infection will raise blood glucose, so yes, this is likely to cause higher readings.

Hope the antibiotics will help soon, sounds like you're having a hard time. Wishing you a good night of sleep as well. Not only for your general well-being but lack of sleep doesn't help your diabetes either.
