can anyone explain this to my confused brain.

8 am tested blood 5.8
9 am breakfast of some roast pork and tomato along with coffee and meds of 2x500mg of metformin 80mg of glyglazide

11 am bloods 6.1

should my reading not be much lower due to meds?

I can't explain - sorry. However, I cannot pass this thread by without commenting that roast pork for breakfast sounds bloody marvellous. I know what my Wife will say already but I am going to try.

Meters won't give exactly to the mml, they are often a few mml off. Test on a finger, then test again right after the first on the same finger, see what both results say.

I think you have nothing to worry about. Tomatoes contain sugar and Metformin has very little effect on blood sugar. Without the Gliclazide your 11.00 bs might have been higher.

so Daibell, you reckon tomatoes should be a no-no for me?

No. Tomatoes are a relatively low carb vegetable. They also contain fibre and important vitamins.

The diet is low carb, not zero carb, and you need to have at least a small amount of carbs to include healthy food groups like vegetables.

I don't see the concern about your readings. To within the margin of error of the meter your BGL is staying very level. I'd keep doing what you're doing, it sounds like everything is going well. :)

my only concern uart is that i was hoping to get off glyclazide if not metformin with this way of eating but if i still need glyc to keep bloods level after a small tomato i'm just a tad despondent

thanks for the encouragement jack
once all the liver and pancreas fat is gone, along with the insulin resistance, your pancreas cell mass can work properly and you will see if and what meds are needed. I wouldn't worry too much about daily readings. [other than lows] you know you are doing very well..don't be too impatient :)
