I've been happily losing about a kilo a week for 17 weeks, mixing up the days a bit, skipping the odd meal, having some very big ones and many sensible ones overall averaging 1250 ish calories LCHF mix as below.

Then 12 days ago it went into reverse and I have put on between .1 and .2 every single day despite trying all sorts. Yesterday I tried fasting 3 stock cubes for the whole day and this morning another increase of 0.1. Clearly whatever is going on is nothing to do with eating because I didn't eat anything yesterday. I've had the odd plateau before and no doubt this one will go away eventually, but I am intrigued about it. Has anyone else experienced adding a bit to one's weight after a full day of fasting with no cheat in sight? ( and no diabetes meds - I am still on blood pressure medication )

What does your .1 and .2 refer to units wise - kilos or pounds? But whichever, it doesn't sound as though it it's a significant amount and probably not enough to bother about. Just weigh yourself once a week instead?? Even over longer periods than a week, when I was losing weight it would fluctuate by much more before it actually settled on a lower weight.

Weight can also be affected by the amount of fluid in your body, and I assume you're drinking plentywhen you fast? So even if you're not eating your weight will presumably fluctuate a little with fluid consumption and elimination.

And if you've lost weight, you'll end up at a point where what you're eating is enough (or more) to maintain your new weight, so you'll eventually need to eat a little less to continue to lose.

Finally: if you don't eat enough for long enough your body can also go into "starvation" mode (look at https://authoritynutrition.com/starvation-mode/) and start to hoard what you've eaten rather than utilising it in an attempt at self preservation.

So some food for thought!:p

yesterday's gain might be water retention due to the salt in the stock cubes?

My weight often fluctuates over about 4-5 pounds over a couple of days. Hormones. Water. Food weight. Exercise (inflammation in the muscles through over use), that kind of thing. I NEVER weight daily for exactly that reason. In fact, I try to only weigh monthly, because then I don't get worried about the little fluctuations.
