But how did the apple fare on the side of the pool, all alone, possibly damp and cold?
The apple is doing very well!
I lovingly put it back in my warm bag for the night, to take it out again for another stint on the poolside for my regular aquajogging session on tuesday.
It will spend it's remaining life in my bag until I either need a couple of bites or until it starts to look too battered from living in my diabetes bag. At that point its remains will be enjoyed by the guinea pigs. :joyful:

Here's a picture of the happy apple sitting on its new home, my trusted diabetic crocodile:

Thank you for the reassurance

Awww! I was late to the party and missed out, but whose to say it will be the same next week, or any of the following weeks?
I'm voting for a rise next week, but just a point or so

Very good point, and you may well be right too!
Only four days until we know if we have a new winner in you. :joyful:

Ohhh I forgot … hope i’m not too late … Drop 1.7
Too late, here are last week's results: https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/th...-i-rise-play-the-game-now.199013/post-2638319 :)

Looks like we have a new winner! :joyful:
Congratulations @MrsA2 ! How did you know?

Woke up at 5.2, would have taken 4 units for foot on the floor if it wasn't for going swimming (I've needed less than last week during the past few days). Because of swimming I didn't take any insulin for FOTF. considering I dropped last week when taking a reduced dose of only 2 units where I would have taken 6 without swimming.

Long story short:
Waking: 5.2.
Before swimming: 5.8.
After swimming: 6.8

My graph showed I did go higher initially during the swim and was already on the decline when I got out. Still took those 4 units after the swim, expecting to rise again after the initial drop based on experiences with aqua jogging/aquarobics.
It looks like the intensity of the exercise is very alike for those activities because the course is very much focused on technique. It's much more about feeling how you move in the water and about getting this pesky breathing right than about swimming. Why don't people simply use a snorkel (google translate tells me this is the right word in English) when swimming front crawl and save themselves the hassle? (Picture in case google translate got it wrong.)

I'll have to skip the lesson next week but I may do some open water practising on the job. :)
I'll be working on the Emma (picture below) for a 5 day trip sailing with a group of German adults with learning disabilities. They'll bring their own supervisors (right word?) to help them with the everyday things like cooking and stuff, and my skipper and I will work with them sailing the ship. We'll likely have short sailing days before arriving at the next harbour every afternoon, so lots of time to go swimming. :)

Diabetes management will be, erm, surprising! :hilarious:

What a lovely varied life you have @Antje77
Keep practicing the breathing on the crawl. How many strokes do they have you doing before breathing?
I don't know yet, we haven't come to that part of the course! :hilarious:
will you jump into the water at such a great depth o_O?! I admire your courage!
It doesn't matter much to me how deep the water is, it's either shallow enough to stand, or deep enough to not stand. You only use the top layer of the water anyway so not much difference between 3 meters and 20 meters deep. :)

However, it's a flat bottomed ship so it's only about a meter under water. It can happen we sail somewhete where you can easily stand up with your head above water!
We also use those ships to sail onto a sandbank until we get stuck, and then we wait for the tide to drop the waterlevel until it's dry and we can walk on the bottom of the sea!

Here's a picture of a similar ship on a sandbank so you can see what the ship looks like under water.
You can clearly see how little of the ship is actually in the water. :)

Congratulations @MrsA2 ! How did you know?
Simples! I thought what would be the most logical result (lower) then remembered it's diabetes we are talking about so reversed that, then thought it would be much higher, but again knowing diabetes loves tricks, I made it only a small rise.
In other words a double double bluff! Go me! :cat:

This is a perfect explanation, well done on predicting diabetes behaviour in all its cunning ways!
