Will I get accustomed to feeling hypo?

I took my insulin at 9:30pm reading was 8.7mmol/L Did another reading at 11:40pm and it was 4.2mmol/L but now I feel warm, shaky and light headed. I was just wondering will this pass if I can stay this low over time? I hope so because 4.2mmol/L is not technically recognized as being hypoglycemic.

If you have been running high for long periods of time, your body will have grown unaccustomed to normal blood sugars. It's quite common to feel hypo as you take control, even when you are not. Provided you are avoiding highs and taking control, over a few weeks this should go away.

As a side note, judging by your profile picture, I would also suggest avoiding creating any more horcruxes, as there have been no reliable studies on the effects this has on bloodsugars.

Thanks man, I'm a bit worried now tho because its still dropping, its 4.1 and I'd like to go to bed now but I'm afraid incase it drops while I'm asleep...advice much appreciated Charles.

I wouldnt be letting my 15 year old type 1 go to sleep at anything less than 8mmol. Hes a recently diagnosed t1 and feels hypo at anything less than 5.5. He would be eating something carby right around now.

never go to bed with a dropping BG, what you took at 9.30 was a correction dose or did you eat at 9.30, if you ate dinner, it would be better if you eat earlier so there is 4 hrs before bed

Sounds like you took to much insulin and over corrected for the amount of carbs you where eating with your meal - aka your insulin to carb ratio needs to be adjusted because its to high right now (or seems that way). If your on a set amount of insulin and are not allowed to do sliding scale according to a inulin to carb ratio then ya you need to EAT more carbs/protein combo to prevent the hypo effect that you experienced.

With a bg level that low you should have a small snack, say about 10-15g of carbs just to keep your bg levels up and prevent it falling further. The hypo symptoms are what they call a False Hypo, once your levels return to normal they will start to fade and you should only get the symptoms once your levels do fall to hypoglycaemia levels.

Thanks for all the info and suggestions guys I stayed up for another hour and did another test. It went up from 4.1 to 5.3mmol/L so once I seen that I knew it would be rising during the night, Finally caught got my head down around 2:30am. BS reading was 9.6mmol/L in the morning.
