From experience as a diabetic and from reading, not as professional advice or opinion:
People with diabetes are prone to fatty liver. Imbibing alcohol adds to that problem.
People bang on about the anti-oxidants in wine but forget that the very same are found in grapes and grape juice.
Alcohol is produced by yeast cells and is a toxin to stop other bugs competing with the yeast's territory.
A toxin is a toxin is a toxin.
