soaps on telly and people talking about the characters as if they were real.
I have a Freestyle Mini Meter. I've had it ages and this weekend, It wouldn't work and gave me an error message, which wasn't in the booklet. I had no strips for 2 other meters I own
I rang Abbot at 9 this morning to ask for help. the young and pleasant female voice on the line helped me to get it working. I didn't realise that the lower battery operates only the light and so the other battery was out of charge. I was instructed how to switch the batteries and she waited on line, whilst I tested the meter. AND she's sending me a new one( a Freestyle lite) and a new kit of computer link and software. I can send this one back when it suits me.
I call that service :D The meter is guaranteed for life as are the batteries. I should receive the new meter tomorrow.

That's great. Roche are not quite so good. I rang this morning about the jammed multiclix and when he saw I was T2 he wanted it back in the jiffy bag (that he would send me) before he would release a new one! I told him in no uncertain terms that I needed to continue testing as that was how I was keeping things in check and did he think I could guess for a week?! I felt discriminated against and told him I thought it was not a matter of T1 or T2 but that his product (meant for daily multi-use) had failed after ten weeks and had been iffy for at least two, which means it was not fit for its purpose. So he gave in and he's sending the new one today and I return the jammed one by return.

Maybe I picked the wrong firm! The batteries already had to be renewed...

By some strange quirk of fate the battery in my Aviva died this morning, I have found Accu-Chek's service very good in the past but when batteries go you want another there and then and thankfully I have a card of 20 X CR2032 batteries that I bought off eBay for about a fiver some time ago as I have a couple of other gadgets that use them.

I would always keep a spare or two handy, as I said, when an important gadget like your meter dies you want a new battery there and then not in two days time through the post. Worth thinking about now before they go wrong :D

I've always found Roche and Abbott provide excellent customer service. Light years away from Bayer/Medtronic who are just plain rude, unhelpful and not entirely competent IME...

The Freestyle Lite was waiting for me after I got back from my Health walk at lunchtime, with an extra pack of strips too( there's a 25 pack in the kit) Neat little kit. And all the computer stuff too.

My new multiclix arrived this morning - but with no drum in it (how mean is that??).

And Sid - the batteries already died a few weeks ago, and I made them send more but bought some in the meantime so there is now always a set in hand.

What gets me - even if folk are polite and helpful - is the "Press 3 if there are aliens in your meter" kind of set-up they all run!

Everybody who is unsatisfied with the service from their meter supplier, should transfer to Abbot. the Freestyle meters are Fast and need the smallest blood sample too( pinhead size, ordinary pins, not the glass topped ones. ). They supply the Optium as well.
If people stopped using their stuff, I should think that the meter suppliers might "look to their laurels."

I agree. I have been using a Freestyle Lite since I started testing at the beginning of May and am continually amazed how small a blood sample it needs to work.
