i know there will be a lot of diabetics that won't agree with me but to me being diagnosed with diabetes was a wonderful moment
It meant I wasn't going round the twist, I wasnt a hyperchondriac and better still the chest pain that took me in to hospital was not heart related
On a daily/nightly basis I wasn't drinking myself (water not alcohol) into feeling sick and I wasnt up and down to the loo every 10 mins and I wasn't falling asleep all day long my eyesight cleared and my feet stopped aching
So to me (I know I have it easy compared to some) swallowing a couple of tablets even if I battle to actually get the metaformin down and counting carbs is a small price to pay to regain the rest of my life back
I know this isn't the case for a lot of diabetics.
Cheers

Oh and maybe the best thing...........I wouldn't have met all the lovely folk on this web site

It certainly led me to a healthier life style, shame it took so long following GP's guidelines and getting worse.

Diagnosis was good for me too - I was never upset/resentful/angry about it - it was just a massive relief to know that I could take insulin, manage things and FEEL BETTER :)

I would agree getting diagnosed with diabetes was good for me, as I started taking care of myself, lost lots of weight, LCarb has become a way of like, and i feel great :)

I felt the same too. I didn't present with the classical symptoms that you read and had been seeing all sorts of docs, having felt very poorly for some time. When diabetes was suggested, I was just relieved that was all it was and could be fixed pretty easily.

I too went into hospital with chest pains and was relieved when it wasnt my heart failing. I quite often tell people it was the best thing that ever happened to me. Ive lost weight, have boundless energy and I love my food.
