wondering if I'm diabetic ??

Hi there, have a glucose meter and on fasting in the mornings it reads 4.8 as the day progresses the readings go up to 7.9,10.3 and even 14.4 just wondering if I have diabetes or not ?
 
Hi. Are these readings 2 hours after a normal meal? If so it would be worth seeing the Doc for some blood tests or asking your local chemist for a free test. If the readings are just taken at random then you can't draw any obvious conclusion but 14.4 might be an indicator to get yourself further tests.
 
Actually, one (or two if asymptomatic) random test readings > 11.1 mmol/l (200mg/dl) are sufficient to diagnose diabetes.

Finger prick readings are not necessarily accurate and capillary readings are not the same as those using venous blood. Readings from a meter can only be used as an indicator that 'proper' testing is necessary.

Ola, you need to visit your GP. No-one here is a doctor and even if they were they couldn't diagnose over the internet.
 
okey dokey thankyou for your advice everyone...just wondering as I have booked an appointment to see my G.P wether I should take my Accu check compact meter with me ??? to show the G.P my readings. Most readings were done two hours after a meal ...some were done when I'd eaten and felt rather unwell after. I'm also wondering if I should be cheeky and ask my G.P for some test strips on prescription ??? Just to let you know the is diabetes in the family :)))
