work/lantus

Newbie
Hi, im 31 and have been diabetic for 26 yrs.
I started work at a well known supermarket nearly 5 yrs ago, when i started I finished work at 6pm which was my normal time for my lantus injection, then a few of my shifts finished at 8pm, therefore 2 hrs late and by the time i got home was 8:30, they now are going to close my dept at 8:30 and 9:30 on thu/fri, i hate having the insulin without a meal cause i just feel rubbish and its the last meal of the day so it needs to be a proper meal and not sandwiches etc ( the canteen closes at 4/5pm).
can anybody offer advice/legal way?????
thanks in advance
Jon

Lantus is a background insulin and doesn't need to be taken with food, if you don't feel well without food when you take it then why don't you change your injection time to say 10pm, as long as you take it at roughly around the same time each day leaving 24 apart then it shouldn't matter what time you inject lantus, if unsure ask your DSN or whoever else you see.

ps Jon, you need to change your user profile as your down as a type 2.

Medical needs of staff must always come first. Speak to your manager about your concerns. I'm sure there will be some arrangements you can both agree on.
