Don't have diabetes
Hello,

My mum has recently been diagnosed with T1,
She has not told work that she is a newly diabetic but as she works in a school she will probably have to.
Has anyone else had any issues with taking injections into work? maybe if your a teacher or work in a school you might have some helpful tips on how to tell them?

All advice is much appreciated.

Hi April,

I normally come from the angle "I'm diabetic. Well managed. You won't even know... But just incase something happened to me, like the building collapses & I get caught under a ton of rubble? It might be worth mentioning to an emergency crew.."

I worked in schools many years ago... Premesis/maintenance management.. I couldn't even turn my back on my tool kit for a second incase a child picked a drill up & tried to "lobotomise" his class mate...
I would advise keeping D paraphanalia at close quarters or locked away...

I work in a school, haven't told staff or management in the school yet but have been approved medically fit to work. I keep my insulin and needles locked in my car (which is about a minute away from me) and keep my monitor and glucose tabs with me in my handbag.
