I had some photographs taken in December for a screening test for diabetic retinopathy, I have just had the test results back saying I have diabetic maculopathy. I have to go for an appointment for further tests in 4-6 weeks. The letter doesn't explain much apart from saying I could loose some sight, and I MIGHT need some gentle laser treatment. They have also said I might NOT need any treatment. I am now really worried and confused, I am type 1, recently been put on a insulin pump. My hbac has never been that bad, and all my other eye tests have always come been as slight changes, with no action necessary. I now have to wait weeks to find out what is going to happen. I also have the problem of reapplying for my driving licence which I have to do every three years. They have asked if I have maculopathy in both eyes, to which I don't know. I am not sure what to put down on the form. I feel quite anxious, and I would appreciate any advice from other members who might of had a similiar experience. I don't know anything about maculopathy, some of the information I have read on the intenet is quite frightening, could anyone reassure me? Thanks in advance?
