I was told a few weeks ago that I was on the borderline for Type2 and have been making many changes to my diet and exercise and also testing to see what foods do to my levels.
Over a month ago my husband, who had not been to the doctors for 18 years developed a horrible green thing on his finger. He went to see the doctor who dealt with that but as he had not been seen for so long gave him a thorough once over and sent him for a blood test. He went and has now had a letter from the surgery telling him to get another test, fasting glucose. He asked me what it meant and I told him that he may have had an abnormal fasting glucose level on his previous test which covered lipids, kidneys, liver etc. and they wanted to check it.
When I was checking my 1 hour post lunch level (I had a pilchard with salad and had not had pilchards before) with my meter I offered to test him too. He kept pulling away when I tried to prick his finger and I finally got a test done. The score was 27.4! He saw the look on my face and said show it me. I did and now he has gone off to be on his own. He knows that I am not happy if my levels are over 10 one hour after a meal. He has been dieting since earlier this year and is now around 94kg having lost quite a bit of his belly. He does not eat a good diet though and would like to eat only meat if he could since he dislikes most veg and will not touch salad except tomato. I think he is very, very scared. I am worried about him but think that with both of us in this together we can get through it together.
He is going for the test tomorrow before his doctors appointment about his infection which has been slow to clear and heal.
I fear bad news is coming his way.
