Don't have diabetes
Hi I am wondering if I could get some advice please. I have a 4 year old son who I am worried about he has over the last few weeks has become overly thirsty wants to drink more than eat and has also started drinking bath water. He also has a habit of bring unstable and can fall over several times in one walk or alternatively he is running around full on crazy. It may me nothing just his age and growing but his half brother was diagnosed as diabetic at a similar age and is insulin dependent so we are a little concerned. Am I right to be concerned or am I being overly worried ? I don't want to take him to doctors unnecessarily. Any advice welcome
Thank you very much

He's drinking a lot - is he using the toilet more? Is he losing weight? You're worried so take him to your GP and you'll find out for sure whether he's diabetic.

You're right to be concerned, but I'd seek a professional's advice rather than ours here on the forum.

Schedule an appointment and have tests performed. If you can't wait until then, use his brother's glucometer and test his blood sugar in the mean time.

Take the boy up to A & E or ring your emergency out of hours gp service and seek advice.

Where a four year old's health and well being is concerned and you are worried there is nothing unnecessary. about taking him to the doctor.

Hi, any concerns regarding a young child's health needs to be investigated asap. Don't worry about seeing the GP, you as his mum, know your son inside out, good luck and I hope all goes well.

Thank you for responding his brother lives with his mum unfortunately and they live a long way away otherwise that would have been a good idea . The pharmacists around here won't test him they just say don't worry he's only little which is what prompted me to question on here. I will get him to doctors today thanks again much love x

I phoned doctors this morning to be told can't have an appointment today!! But I did manage to get hold of an email contact for the local diabetic clinic so I have sent an email to them with all my concerns hopefully will get a response from them
Thank you for the advice much appreciated
