Worth worrying about 1 hour post meal levels?

Hi everyone,

What are your thoughts on levels 1 hour after eating compared to 2?

For example this evening I had 50g of whole meal pasta with some meatballs.

1 hour after my reading was 7.1

2 hours after my reading was 6.2

Is the 7.1 anything to worry about or not? Furthermore is the 6.2 ok?

I'm type 2, no meds, controlled by diet and exercise.

I would say then your levels are good. I think most people test at 2 hours after meals.

30 mins to 1 hour after a meal BGs tend to be near their peak. The height of the curve doesn't normally matter that much, it's pretty much dependant on what you have eaten. A glucose drink will be high for example. The important aspect of the curve is how quickly it comes down. A return to near normal by two hours is what one would expect in a non diabetic.

This graph shows three curves for different tropical fruits, http://www.jpma.org.pk/images/September ... igure1.jpg
