that is exactly how it does it (well close). Mathematically it integrates the graph for the previous 90 days divides it by the time span and converts this average number to an HbA1c. You will find these calculations in the stats pane

loolololoI far too busy at work I do this at home in the evenings/weekends.
 
no it calculates the integral (area) so if you take a lot of high readings or low readings that doesn't over compensate
 
The integral of the readings is the area under the graph (the blue area in the illustration) . Then I just divide by the time period and I have a good average (much better than the sum of the readings / count of readings). This only makes sense for averaging all readings and not when looking at fastings/pre-prandials only and then I fall back to the discrete mean.

The integral of a function is "like" calculating the area under the curve
 
I sort of understand what you are doing now. The area under the graph makes a lot of sense. I have looked at a lot of 'similar' apps and they all use simple average to calculate a1c. I would be curious what the % difference would be for your way against simple average for someone who does quite a lot of testing. I think your way must be more accurate.

So you should do an app in English & Chinese. Then flog it to one of the portals in China for loads of dosh. Then no need go to that office you go to each day. With all the free time you can copy this site and do in Chinese for China and do the moderating yourself - would use up more of your free time. Then sell that for more dosh.

Then I guess you could have some fun to keep busy - buy a football club. Then sell some of that for a big fat profit to someone in China. After that I have no further ideas.

Ok bank holiday weekend and I have implemented a new set of function for monitoring weight.
1. New tabs along the top to change your view
2. Tab 2 is for entering and managing your weight (you can enter in lbs or kilos
3. Table shows weight in kg, lbs and stones and lbs
4. Shows BMI but at the moment assumes everyone is 170cm tall. you will get an options dialog to set it
5. You can select to plot your weight against time in the graph
6. You can edit your weight entries by double clicking either the kg or lb cells
7. You can delete in the usual way by selecting rows in the table and right clicking and select delete
8. Weight axis is shown on the right

Just open to my file to update and it says version 7, i wondered what happened, so you have been a busybody and done a new version. Does that mean if you are not happy with me you can delete/mess it up too. Just wondering.
I thought of introducing some carbo and had a cheese toast for breakfast, after one hour meter reading was 10.6, but immediately went on the bike for an hour, so after 2 hours of having the slice of bread reading was 6. This is really good since I can enjoy food I like and burn it off
I have eaten all the food I have been craving for last few weeks today and cycled for 3 hours or so keeping BS around 4.6
Will return to low carb tomorrow- my normal diet and keep exercising for an hour or so. Still wants to loose that extra 3.5kg.
 
Not may be the right thread for this question.
I never though of measuring my blood pressure before even though in Feb it was 130/88, DN said I should bring 88 down to 80. Should I be checking BP? If so what kind of, brand monitor should I buy?

I think your exercising will bring it down but your BP is not too bad
I would suggest you start your exercise before the 1 hour peak if you are going to do this so you dont go quite so high.
 
For info: All your data you enter is written into a derby database which is created in a directory called BGDB in your home directory. You can back this up by copying the whole directory. I do this regularly.

Do not edit any files inside this directory.
 
Ok version 0.0.8 about to be uploaded.

1. You can set your height under the options dialog (value stored in database so next time you open you dont have to change it unless you are growing/shrinking)
2. BMI is now coloured: red for obese, yellow for overweight, Green for "normal", cyan for underweight

Don't forget to back up your data before upgrading to the new version

1. Fixed a few bugs I seemed to of introduced when first starting the application with no data - sorry about that
2. Added percentage weight loss graph
3. Added percentage weight loss from first reading

No need for data backup from version 0.0.8 to 0.0.9

Ahhh Carrots. They helped me give up smoking 15 years ago. I grayed carrots a put them in a bag and sprinkled them with lemon juice. I snacked on them whenever I wanted a smoke. Carrots help soothe the gut and apparently encourage the release of endorphins. Raw potato is the better but apart from tasting disgusting they are no good for D's.

Andrew, I just wanted to thank you for you work on this wonderful programme/app. It another tool I am going to use in my fight to control my diabetes. I just love spreadsheets, stats and all that....that is the engineer in me:).

Just uploaded my rubbish code for version 0.0.9 (don't expect comments - I don't do them). Have also uploaded the pom file if you are a maven as it is all built with it - I know this means nothing to 99% of you so just ignore it all

lol yes it does look like porn in this font. POM stands for Project Object Model; It tells maven how to build and package the program
