hey guys

i’m on the freestyle libre and at the moment it says 10.6 straight arrow down, so i tested my bloods and it said 5.6?! so i tested immediately again because i though this can’t be right unless my libre is very in accurate, and they were 9.3? why does my blood glucose reader give me such drastic readings like that??

Did you use the abbott meter for sensor scans and blood test? Or did you use an entirely different meter for the finger prick?

I have just returned a sensor that was displaying LO when my actual blood glucise was >8 . Some of the sensors do give strange readings.

i don’t know why but I know which reading I trust more: finger pricks.

I know many people find the Libre or a CGM fantastic.
Unfortunately, I concluded I am CGM/Libre incompatible because the scenario you described was common during my Libre trial (two sensors) and not uncommon with 5 or 6 Dexcom sensors.

I did wonder whether it was because my BG changes quickly especially during exercise but the Dexcom kept waking me one night (when I was not exercising) warning of a hypo. A finger prick told me my BG was 6.4.

i use the contour next test in kit. it was more the fact that i tested my blood and it was 5.1 and then tested again seconds later and it was 9.3...

Under those circumstances I would have tested a third time to see if the high or low readings were more accurate.
Could have had something on your skin, or a bad test strip.

i did test again 5 mins later and they were 9.8. i just didn’t understand why it gave me such a wrong reading

We all get rogue readings from time to time. It can be a strip error (contaminated or just badly manufactured/transported/stored) or human error (contaminated finger - even after washing)
