Hi all - my nurse said she is going to refer me to the x-pert course after being diagnosed type 2. Luckily she is keeping me off any type of medication for as long as possible so this course is one of the first steps i'm taking to take control. Has anyone else been referred for this and how long were they waiting before they heard from them?

Hi. Just be aware that some posts have shown a big variation in diet advice form these courses. If you are advised to have 'plenty' of starchy carbs and to keep the fat, sugar and salt down then you are being given standard NHS mantra which is not helpful for us. The NHS is changing very slowly and you may be given more up-to-date advice such as reducing the carbs and not worrying about fat. Keep an open mind and keep reading the posts on these forums.

Hi,
I did the x-pert course, they do talk about reducing carbs. Some of it is a bit repetitive.
I waited two weeks did a taster session then a six week course.
Given a good booklet.
