Apparently type 1 get them free, but type 2 do not automatically get them on prescription, in fact it would appear that a lot of GP's (especially my surgery) do not supply strips. I have been purchasing them on the internet cheaper than I can buy them from Chemists, but one box on prescription I suppose is better than nothing. I feel that by testing my bg regularly I am gradually finding the foods which suit or do not suit me. I can't think of any other way to control this disease, so will carry on giving my GP some hastle each time I attend, but will also still have to purchase them.
