Yoga

The short answer is probably scientifically no, but my answer is yes because yoga promotes mobility, suppleness, mental balance and general wellbeing. So why don't I do it any more? I must be lazier than I thought.

I do yoga, but I do it to try and maintain the lasts shreds of flexibility in my otherwise unbending body.

I assume it may also help with diabetes BG control as it is physical exercise and some of the more demanding postures can leave you sweating and breathing heavily.

It also helps reduce stress, which is another bonus.

Go for it on general principles - it makes you feel better :-)

I'd say why not. I've only ever done bikram but as it is a form of exercise and any form of exercise is a good thing, focuses your mind elsewhere and makes your body work, I can't see why there would be anything bad about it. Can't say it ever made a huge difference to my bg levels though.

I love yoga - and I do mean LOVE it.
But I was advised to stop because I have hypermobile joints. And I must admit the joint issues have been better since.

But I miss it. A lot.

I'm hoping that as age stiffens me up, I will be able to return to yoga (hatha)
And anyone can do pranayama, no matter how limited their movement.

If you look into the history and different 'branches' of yoga you will find that there are yogic practices to balance, harmonise and benefit almost everything, so there will definitely be practices that are considered to be beneficial for diabetics.

I was wondering if anyone did yoga and does it help diabetics.?
I am doing yoga for almost 10 years and it give numerous health benefits like lower the sugar levels in natural way. There are many yoga poses you can try at home which is beneficial for diabetics patient which are given below:
  • Legs Up
  • Recycling Bound
  • Seated Forward Bend
  • Plow Pose
  • Upward Facing Dog
  • Bow Pose
Yoga can give much more benefits to our health rather than relaxing. All the above yoga poses are beneficial for lower the blood sugar level and increase the circulation in the body. Try these yoga pose at home and i am sure that you will get the result by practicing yoga.

I do it occasionally, and it drops my sugar levels.

Never bothered to measure. Perhaps I should.
