Yogurt

Portabello mushrooms are lovely drizzled with olive oil and some crushed garlic, baked in oven and then topped with some griddled halloumi cheese. Served with a salad and homemade coleslaw and a dash of hot sauce, its almost like having a burger in a bun. or as good as this low carber is going to get this side of Xmas.

Sounds lovely ....a great veggie meal, for me ....hot sauce ....love it ....best wishes ...Kat

I have a pot of Liberte 500g plain Greek style yoghurt and I have added to it 2 satchels of cadburys Options mint chocolate . Will this still be classed as low carb?

This is a recipe I got from ether slimming world or weight watchers when a friend went to it.

Sounds very very nice, I don't like halloumi cheese so would replace it with Blue Stilton

If it's added to a 500g pot, I'm guessing that would be 4 or 5 servings. On that basis the 10g carb (from 2 sachets) would probably be fine. (Bet you never thought I'd be posting you a supportive message? )

I might be inclined to pick up some unsweetened cocoa powder, and if you need it, a jar of sweetener powder (I don't use it, so can't recommend a brand), and it'll work out a lot cheaper, and longer.

If you're trying to weave some fruit into all of that, your chocolate-ish mix, plus raspberries could be nice?

Just been in to my very big M&S food hall. They had 28 types of yoghurt, of which only 2 were full fat and unsweetened. Both types were sold out (after I bought the last 2 pots).

I will always go for full fat unsweetened Greek youghurt (highest available here is only 10%). Sometimes I will add a few frozen berries (e.g blueberries) and a tiny bit of liquid artificial sweetener. When the frozen berries have been in the youghurt for a few minutes, it will taste like a lovely icecream as the berries have somehow partly frozen the youghurt.

Shops will only sell what they want you to buy. If the price from their supplier is not agreeable to them they will not buy so it will not be on the shelves for us to buy. They will fill up with whatever they get at best price. It is all economics - and we are at the end of the chain.

Late onset T1, several auto immune issues.
Humalogmix25 twice a day, Methotrexate 25mg once per week, FolicAcid 5mg once per week, prednisolone 5mg daily, Allopurinol 300mg, Calcichew-D3 800iu, Levothyroxine 50mcg, Atenolol 50mg, Losarten 100mg, Aspirin 75mg, Nicorandil 20mg, Nitrolingual GTN spray, Metformin 2000mg, Allimemazine 10mg, Lanzoprazole 30mg, Atorvastatin 20mg, Co Codamol 8/500mg, Depo Medrone (Methylprednisolone) or double Prednisolone for 7 days in case of RA flare.

This is broken economics because the healthy stuff is *sold out* and the fake low fat stuff is on the shelves being marked down. Economics would be stocking the shelves with more full fat plain yoghurt because it's selling out. What this is is not economics but prejudices obscuring economics. These supermarkets are losing sales and losing money because they have bought into the low fat myth. More so than their customers have apparently.

OMG! that sound great.... I actually drooooooolled when I read this post! I gotta get some halloumi soon!

I use Easi Yo

Either the fruit ones sweetened by stevia, or the full fat Greek ones.

Yum.

I use my Easiyo maker to make my own Greek Yoghurt - made with full fat UHT milk and dried full fat milk, plus a couple of tbsps of live yoghurt (usually I keep a couple of tbsps from the last batch) - strain through muslin - really creamy and easy peasy! If I want a fruit one...I just add my current favourite - blueberries or rhubarb (with sweetener), and maybe a squirt of agave nectar!
Delish!

That's why I use Easiyo. Always some in the cupboard takes 8 hours to make. start it at bed time and it's ready for fridge in the morning.

Im glad you have! I didn't eat lots about 5 teaspoons after my lunch. I have some cocoa powder and I have canderel and sweet and low sweetener. With what I have eaten today my blood has stayed quite level. High still but single figures finally!

Way to go Sarah!

Oh dear it's gonna take a long while to get used to this! What could I add to plain yoghurt to make it taste nicer?

Well, I'm convinced you would love it plain eventually but yes, it does take some getting used to. In the end you may find that you prefer it to any other kind. It happens...promise! It happened to me, I love my unsweetened unflavoured low carb yog now. Just divine
